2011-12 EARTHWALK VILLAGE SCHOOL (EVS) , in its 7th year, is a one day a week community and nature-based mentoring program for children ages 7-12. EVS takes place every Thursday or Friday, from 9am until 3pm throughout the school-year in the Goddard College woods. The program is designed for students to experience interdependent relationships, through; long-term mentoring, immersion in the natural world, learning outdoor living skills and Earth-based teachings, all supported by a caring community of Mentors, Apprentices and Elders. It is the culture we are creating and living that becomes the most powerful mentor. Learn more about Cultural Mentoring in Coyote’s Guide to Connecting to Nature co-authored by Jon Young.

Our student-centered curriculum honors each child individually while encouraging them to take direct responsibility for their learning at EarthWalk and beyond. We believe that children and teens who develop strong relationships with one another and the Earth will grow up to become powerful stewards of our human and natural communities. See more about our educational philosophy on the Natural Learning page.

Schedule and Calendar: EVS meets one full day a week, either Thursdays or Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. The school year calendar begins Thursday September 8th (mostly home-schoolers), and on Friday September 9th (mostly from public schools). The school year ends the first week of June in an overnight experience. Our calendar accommodates major school vacation weeks. EarthWalk Calendar 2011-12
